Md Alim Akhter Khan, director general of the Directorate of National Consumers’ Right Protection (DNCRP) said this while addressing a programme at the FDC in Dhaka on Saturday.

The consumers will be able to purchase the common protein item at a low price from seven locations under the Dhaka South City Corporation and six locations under the Dhaka North City Corporation, he said.

The government is going to undertake the initiative as people struggle to manage their family expenses amid the skyrocketing prices of almost all essential items.

Currently, a dozen chicken eggs (layer) are being sold for Tk 150, duck eggs for Tk 240, Paragon brown eggs for Tk 205, and deshi chicken eggs for Tk 240.
